going green...

This is one of my favorite projects yet. I bought this cabinet ( before I painted it) at D.I. for 15.00. Here's what to do:
a) buy a lovely shade of Spray paint from Home depot in a Satin Finish.
b) Spray paint a few layers(keep your can at least 8 inches away) until it looks good and covered.
( wait about 10 to 20 minutes in between each layer)
c) wait fifteen to twenty minutes, so you can touch it with out getting paint on you but wouldn't want to move it yet.
d) lightly sand the edges with sandpaper and the paint basically falls off where you touch. (this way you don't end up sanding to the raw wood, you just let some of the original dark finish show through.
e) since mine had a weird plastic insert on top. I took it out and mod podged Scrapbook paper over the top.
f) added some new handles ( if the old ones are a different size you can buy wood filler to fill them in before you paint, but you will have to drill new holes for your new ones)
g) put it in your house and love every minute of it.
